Annual Play Festival: come curious; leave changed

The hard work of our playwrights came to fruition at our annual Play Festival in May this year. Featuring the original work of our playwrights in 10-minute plays, this is theatre’s answer to the short story—urgent, intimate, and unflinching. In 10 minutes or less, we spotlight powerful voices and pressing societal issues, leaving audiences captivated and changed.

“….The Festival was incredible.  I laughed.  I cried.  I was angry.  I felt all the emotions.”

“It is some form of magic. The play suddenly comes alive. And I get to work with talented actors and directors…”

From the school-to-prison pipeline to colorism in Appalachia in the early 20th Century; from the exploitation of Chinese students during the busing crisis in Boston to tackling prejudice and fear in our modern world: our annual festival brought socially relevant theatre to the stage.

“I am blown away by the quality of the production: I had no idea 10 minute plays could be so impactful. It is inspiring and left me hungry for more!”

With the support and encouragement of TC2, I have written several full length plays, one has been produced and another was a semi-finalist at the O’Neill Theater Conference…

Art Salons 2024-25: Out of the margins and into the light

At our monthly art salons our playwrights get to see their work come to life in staged readings. Audience feedback is included as an essential part of the process, helping artists to enrich and improve their work.

Our past full productions

When resources allow, we stage full productions, often to sold-out houses.

Throwback: The Launch of TC Squared, 2013
…the night proved to me that theatre here in Boston is not dying, but paused on the brink of a delightful rebirth…I must give some recognition to these enthusiastic young practitioners. In every case, the material chosen was solidly original, contemporary, witheringly honest yet laced with bubbles of laughter—and every one of them ready to take the stage in final production. In every aspect, vitality and professionalism went hand in hand.Larry Stark
